Walking on the Moon

Posted by
Jim Wilson (Malvern, Pennsylvania, United States) on 11 July 2011 in Landscape & Rural.

Visiting the Leirhnjukur area in the Icelandic interior. This area has recent lava flows with a trail leading through it. It was rainy, and the magma beneath creates a lot of geothermal activity. You can still feel the heat if you put your hands down into a fissure. The Apollo 11 crew used this area to training for their moon mission.....hence, the title.

Isn't Iceland amazing? I like the placement of the person to allow the viewer to make sense of the image.
